February 2026: Just started having clay party at my studio Wednesdays, anyone can come. Tonight we listened to the song Berghain by Rosalía, and the&nbsp; operatic dramatics were intense, reminded me of medieval judgement paintings. The Deer Songs Residency Program, which I have been working on for over a year is nearly ready to launch. Part 2: doing a project with Dr. Anna Bergstrom and her PhD work from Antarctica. Going to have a show at MING Studios April-May with several artists- we’ll engage a QUESTION OF SCALE in response to Bergstrom’s studies of Antarctic Glacial Dust. November 2025: I am working to help create an eco-cultural creative residency program in rural Idaho: The MERC(C) and the Deer Songs Residency Program. These are starting to lift off/root down. Read more on the site.&nbsp; This month I am also working on the Ecogeoglyphic Observatory’s website, making a space for this new phase of working closely in relations to the land. October 2025: This month marks the beginning of The Ecogeoglphic Observatory’s process cycle for 2025-2027. We will work with a section of the Boise Foothills as part of the City of Boise’s “Habitat Adoption” program. We’re going to keep pretty quiet as we move through the opening of a new process, but if you want to be involved, please reach out. Also, Matt and I are going to Salt Lake City on Oct 7 to support Epicenter’s Mixer at Books and Supply. The HELLO WORLD banners will be on display there, and postcard sets will be for sale.&nbsp; September 2025: HELLO, WORLD! is complete! This project was a total dream for me: getting to meet people in a new place, and grow to know the place through time and attention. The banners have been hung up, and trophies handed out. I’m finishing my work as a Frontier Fellow next month, so it is a big push to complete everything for HELLO, WORLD! July 2025: Just got back from Green River, UT. I’ve been taking photos of people’s front yards there; getting to know folks; sharing conversation and learning about the meaningfulness of their yard decor and gardens. March 2025: The Ecogeoglyphic Observatory is a few months out from our show, RIPARIA, at MING Studios. We are presenting a public performance of “Drone Bath” on March 11. We are returning to the river in this super-warm spring with gratitude and curiosity. I am preparing to conclude the work for my residency at The Common Well&nbsp;in Boise. Myself and the “Show and Tell” residency cohort have been working for nearly six months on our&nbsp;presentations.&nbsp;Today the title came to me, “Dues for a Volcano Cult.”&nbsp; Feb, 2025: I am currently visiting Green River, Utah as part of my research as one of Epicenter’s Frontier Fellows. Towering hollyhocks; cacti; rusted tractor parts; elaborate birdhouses; twisting driftwood; rock collections; wagonloads of geraniums; and more horseshoe sculptures than you can shake a brick at… These are some key elements of front yard design in Green River, UT. As a Frontier FEllow with Epicenter, I was invited to make a site specific, community engaged project for the town.I have been working on forging relationships with the people of Green River through the medium of the front yard. “Hello, World!” was born from an outsider’s vantage point. I saw an opportunity to make a project that responds to what the people of Green River are literally inviting anyone to do- to look at their yards, and appreciate the care, humor, wonder, history, and creativity exhibited there. In gratitue for their generosity in sharing stories with me and letting me explore their yards, I made a ceramic sculpture for each household.&nbsp;&nbsp;I am incredibly grateful to Epicenter’s staff- Maria, Kenny and Zoe; and the people of Green River who have chosen to work with me. Teal has received support from the Boise Arts and History Department, the City of Boise Arts and History Department, The Idaho Commission on the Arts, A Blade of Grass, MING Studios, The Alexa Rose Foundation, The Common Well, The Union for Contemporary Art and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. She is currently a Frontier Fellow with Epicenter, located in Green River, UT. installation over 2 days in March 2024 for the yearly event, "Illumibrate" at JUMP Boise, a nonprofit organization whose mission states: "We are committed to creating a welcoming, fun, out of the box, educational environment that engages communities and opens one's mind to new possibilities and experiences, encouraging individuals and organizations to JUMP to a new level." It is estimated that 1,000+ visitors will engage with the exhibits over the course of the two day event. The prompt: The theme of this year's Illumibrate is "Dreams" and I am taking that prompt in the direction of creating a dreamlike space where the images are entirely Caribou-derived.In the work, I explore the surreal perspective produced by Caribou wearing video collars. The work: I will be re-editing some videos shared with me by Dr. Libby Ehlers and the Univesity of Montana. Dr. Ehlers and colleagues have been studying Caribou behavior using video-collars worn by members of the Fortymile herd. Of the almost 19,000 videos taken by the cameras, I was allowed to choose from some of the highlights. I am drawn to these videos because they pull the viewer close to the chest of the Caribou, allowing us an eye-view that is so deeply intimate. By centering the perspective of the Caribou, these videos provide both scientific and relational data. A fabric form that can be passed slowly around by viewers will feature projections of these videos of the herd’s movements through places that are deeply wild. It is with reverence, respect, and awe that I gratfully work with this footage, and cherish the opportunity to bring it to a wider audience.Collaboration: All video is the work of Dr. Libby Ehlers from the University of Montana and her team, including scientists from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Bureau of Land Management, and the Yukon Department of Environment, which studies the Fortymile Caribou herd's foraging behavior using video collars. The Fortymile is one of Alaska’s 31 herds of caribou living from the Canada border west to Adak Island. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Ehlers and her team for allowing me access to the incredible footage. Teal's visionary talents and family history brought together traditional knowledge and Western science in a very exciting and impactful way. I was thrilled to collaborate as Teal embarked on this creative journey to share a unique opportunity where we as researchers, were fortunate to understand caribou behavior from a new perspective - the caribou itself. We need more storytellers and creative artists, like Teal, to elevate and connect us to nature in different ways.
